A lifetime of experience
Morgan Paull grew up in Castlemaine, Victoria, and now spends his days between St Kilda in Melbourne and Australia's Top End, where he continues his work with First Nations people.
His motivation for writing it is to create enjoyable works of fiction in an accessible and dramatic form, and not without some elements of comedy.
His first novel ‘Shadows’, which deals with the international narcotics trade, was inspired by the loss of his son to illicit drugs, an event that drove him to study and enter the field of alcohol and drug treatment. These personal and professional experiences give him deep insight into the world of narcotics and the destruction that it can cause. Readers may find some of his work triggering, however he writes to provide an understanding of the details of the problem of the illicit drug trade so more may understand and help to reduce its impact.
When not writing novels, Morgan provides consultancy services to healthcare services in southeast Australia with a focus on educating medically qualified staff in harm reduction approaches when working with vulnerable Indigenous clients. He also supports corporate clients develop policy and operational strategies for the adoption of Aboriginal Reconciliation Action Plans, in association with Reconciliation Australia.
